Why Go With PeopleLooker
When you log on to PeopleLooker’s website, you’ll be instantly drawn in by the beautiful design and its unique personality. But PeopleLooker also has a powerful search engine and it turns up search results quickly.
Powerful Search Engine
While other background check websites can confuse you with too many options, PeopleLooker keeps everything simple and straightforward. Just key in your subject’s name and surname (and a state, if you’d like) and click search. The search engine will trawl through billions of records and compile a report with all the relevant information that turns up. It really is that simple.
It Turns Up Results Quickly
While other background check websites can make you jump through hoops or leave you waiting endlessly for your report, PeopleLooker works fast. A preliminary search takes less than 2 minutes to complete; and your report will be ready for download in under 5 minutes.
PeopleLooker’s pricing is simple and straightforward. Whether you pay for 1 month or 3 months upfront, you’ll still get the same functionality. However, paying for 3 months upfront works out 30% cheaper.

For PeopleLooker, being upfront about the information you’ll receive in your report is a point of pride. You can find out what you can expect to turn up when you use PeopleLooker before you even sign up for the service. Some of the information is included in every report while other information will incur additional charges.
All standard reports will include the following information about the subject of your search:
- Name and any known aliases
- Current phone number and known history
- Known relatives
- Criminal records
- Sex offender information
- Traffic violations
- Social media network information
- Public photos
You can also get additional information about the subject of your search. However, you’ll need to pay extra in order to obtain it. This additional information includes:
- Court judgements
- Divorce and marriage records
- Bankruptcy proceedings
- Tax liens
Some other background check websites on the market will provide this information in a standard report, without charging an additional fee. With that being said, many others say that this information is available only to reveal that you need to pay extra after you’ve signed up. PeopleLooker sets itself apart by being completely upfront about what is and isn’t included before making you sign up.
Is PeopleLooker Legit?
The simple answer is: yes, and here's why. There are 2 main concerns when using a background check service. The first is access to information and the second is FCRA. In terms of access to information, just because you may be able to find the information on your own does not mean that you will or would like to spend your time finding the information. Many of the food we consume we can theoretically make ourselves, but we like the simplicity of purchasing it instead.
Regarding FCRA compliance, all that non-compliance means is that you are not able to use PeopleLooker as a consumer reporting site and must follow the guidelines that the site makes clear. It states:
According to the FCRA, you cannot use PeopleLooker or any other general background check service for:
- Employment screening
- Tenant screening
- Hiring household workers
- Educational qualifications
- Assessing creditworthiness
- Business transactions initiated by an individual customer
How it Works
PeopleLooker aggregates its data from federal, state, county and local public records. The information on the website makes it very clear that you’ll only be able to turn up information on people that are geographically in the US, However, when we ran a number of searches, we noticed that PeopleLooker’s search engine also goes through a wide range of social media networking sites. These include social networks you’d expect, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and Instagram.
According to the FAQ, PeopleLooker pulls its data from billions of records which it obtains from multiple sources. However, we could not find any information about how often its databases are updated in order to ensure the information is accurate and up to date. With that being said, all the searches you run will be monitored and you’ll receive periodic updates when any information in your report changes or something new turns up.
Ease of Use
PeopleLooker stands out from the crowd thanks to its easy to use interface and its commitment to offering a top notch customer experience. The service is also really focused on mobile. Not only does it offer iOS and Android apps which you can download for free, but both apps offer extended functionality which you won’t find on the desktop version. This includes the ability to do reverse phone and email searches.
When you log on to PeopleLooker’s website, you’re instantly taken in by its beautiful design and intuitive interface. The website has a fun theme that’s full of personality; and the white and mint green color palette is really easy on the eyes.
Searching is simple and straightforward. Unlike other background check websites, which can have multiple search options that can be confusing if you’ve never used a background check website before, PeopleLooker only has one way of searching.
The search will turn up every bit of information the engine finds on the subject of your search. Keying in your subject’s full name is enough to run a search. However, you can also key in a state, which should help you get more accurate results. During the search itself, you can narrow down your results even further by adding a middle initial, your subject’s age and their last known city of residence.
The sleek look carries through in the reports, which never feel overwhelming despite being very detailed. All the information is batched in sections so you can quickly jump to the parts of your subject’s history you’re most interested in reading about.
Focus on Mobile
PeopleLooker has put a lot of attention to detail when developing its mobile apps. Both iOS and Android versions are free to download and easy to use—just log in with your membership details and you’re ready to go. The apps enjoy high ratings on both on the App Store and on the Google Play store.
More to the point however, the apps have additional functions not available on the desktop version, specifically a reverse phone lookup and reverse email lookup. This means you can quickly check who’s behind an unknown number or email address directly from your smartphone.
Focus on Customer Experience
PeopleLooker takes customer satisfaction very seriously, which is why it offers live customer support 7 days a week. What’s more, both its Facebook and Twitter accounts are very active and regularly updated.
Customer support regularly engages customers who are facing issues on social media, especially on PeopleLooker’s Facebook page.
More significantly, however, PeopleLooker places a huge amount of importance on ensuring that customer expectations are met. Unlike other background check websites, who might say that information is available only for you to find out it incurs extra charges after you sign up, PeopleLooker is very upfront about what information you’ll get in a standard report and what information you will need to pay an additional fee to obtain.
Help & Support
PeopleLooker puts a lot of stock on the friendliness and helpfulness of its customer support staff. Live customer representatives are just a phone call away 7 days a week via a toll free number. Lines are open from 8am to 10pm EST on weekdays and from 10am to 10pm EST during the weekend.
If you’d rather not talk to someone in person, you can also get in touch with customer support via email or by opening a support ticket.
PeopleLooker also has an FAQ section and a blog on its website. We did find some of the information in the FAQ section to be rather basic, but it is all laid out in clear language. The blog is primarily focused on lifestyle; and it deals with topics such as how to improve your online dating profile. However, you’ll also find some informative articles on online safety as well as the latest news on PeopleLooker.
If you’re new to background check websites and want something that’s affordable, reliable, and keeps things simple, PeopleLooker is for you. The service is really straightforward to use, and the beautiful design and attention to detail throughout is a huge plus.
Besides, when you sign up with PeopleLooker, you know exactly what to expect. Whether it’s the pricing structure or what the site can or cannot do, you’re safe in the knowledge that the company is committed to being transparent and upfront.
Based in the heart of New York City, PeopleLooker was founded with one main objective in mind: making access to public records quick, reliable, and affordable for everyone. The website has an extensive database with access to billions of public records; and it has quickly grown its subscriber base despite being a relative newcomer on the people search engine market. PeopleLooker also seeks to set itself apart from the competition through an unwavering customer focus and by being as upfront as possible about what it can and cannot do. Today, PeopleLooker handles millions of successful people searches each month and is valued at $22 million.
